The phlebotomist is responsible for applying the techniques related to their profession within the clinical laboratory and the execution of the medical technical activities allowed by his professional corporation within the framework of the clinical studies with volunteers. These tasks must be performed in compliance with the requirements of various medical protocols, regulations.

SPECIFIC TASKS:

1. Performs the full spectrum of technical activities related to their field of expertise:

a. Prepares, collects and processes samples (blood/urine) originating from bioequivalence and/or Phase 1 studies;

b. Administers the study medication, as necessary;

c. Inserts catheters and performs venipuncture as neccesary (phlebotomist).

2. May administer drugs prescribed by the physician (except for the ones administered by intravenous injection).

3. Insert catheter (for sampling purposes exclusively).

4. Read the informed consent form to the subjects.

5. May administer vaccine and it implies that a physician must be on the premises.

6. Install nasogastric tubes.

7. May participate in the volunteer’s health condition assessment.

• Diploma of professional studies in health assistance and nursing care
• 1 year of relevant experience;
• Member in good standing of OIIAQ;
• Computer literacy: Word, Excel;
• Excellent communication skills both in French and English.
